KC set to part ways with Manning Cup coach – source

STAR Sports has been reliably informed that the contract of Kingston College's (KC) Manning Cup head coach Vassell Reynolds will not be renewed by the institution.

The North Street-based institution is understood to be looking in a new direction, with sources, who requested anonymity, indicating that Reynolds' three-year contract - which expires in a few months - will not be extended.

Assistant coach of KC, Jermaine Miller, sources reveal, has emerged as frontrunner to take over the role.

However, when contacted on the matter, Reynolds stated that discussions are ongoing.

"It (contract) has a few months to go, so I am not in a position to say yet," he said.

NO DECISION YET

Meanwhile, Principal of KC Dave Myrie said that no decision has been made on Reynolds as yet.

"I have had no discussions as it relates to that as yet, so people out there know a lot more than I do," said Myrie.

"We have a process that when all the seasons come to an end we sit down and we discuss all of the different aspects and all of that, and so I have not had that discussion with anybody," he said.

Reynolds' tenure at KC has been marked by notable highs. In his first season in 2023, he guided the team to the semi-finals of both the Manning Cup and Champions Cup competitions, respectively.

He followed that up with an outstanding 2024 campaign, leading KC to titles in the Manning Cup and the Olivier Shield.

However, the 2025 season saw a dip in form, with KC exiting the Manning Cup at the second-round stage, an outcome that appears to have influenced a move to not renew his contract.

A vastly experienced coach with over two decades in the sport, he led Rusea's High School to the daCosta Cup title in 2017. He also guided Wolmer's Boys' School to the 2016 Champions Cup final and the Manning Cup final, where they lost 2-1 to Jamaica College.
