St Catherine Parish Court evacuated after security threat

September 24, 2025

A bomb threat forced the suspension of proceedings at the St Catherine Parish Court in Spanish Town this morning.

Reports are that around 10:40 a.m., persons conducting business at the court were ordered to evacuate the building. Members of the Jamaica Fire Brigade quickly arrived on the scene as first responders.

It is understood that the threat came through a phone call, prompting the authorities to act swiftly.

Attorney-at-law Isat Buchanan, who had matters scheduled in the Circuit Court, voiced his concerns.

"I think it causes inconvenience, and although it is only a threat, the police cannot take it lightly. Therefore, we have to act responsibly and just await instructions as to the way forward," Buchanan said.

The police bomb squad and the Canine Division are expected to search the building.

This marks the third bomb threat reported at the court and its environs since the start of the year.
