Assault rifle seized in Grants Pen raid suspect arrested

Police seized a high-powered rifle along with assorted ammunition and arrested a suspect during a series of pre-dawn operations across the St. Andrew North division on Thursday.

About 4:00 am, members of the St Andrew North Division, supported by multiple divisions and specialized branches of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), carried out coordinated activities aimed at locating illegal firearms and ammunition, as well as apprehending wanted men and persons of interest linked to various crimes.

During the operation, an assault rifle with no serial number was seized from inside a dwelling in Grants Pen.

The weapon was found with a magazine containing eight 7.62 rounds and one .380 round of ammunition.

A suspect was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Police say the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to disrupt criminal networks operating within the division.

As the security forces intensify their crackdown, investigators have also renewed their appeal for several men wanted for murder.

They are Shevon Matthews, otherwise called 'Max', of Zambia in Central Village, St Catherine, and Blue Hole district in Red Hills, St Andrew.

Also wanted is Emar Grinham, otherwise called 'Bully Beef', of 128 Barbican Road in Andrews Pen, Kingston 8.

Kenroy Willis, otherwise called 'Papa', of Rosehall in Lawrence Tavern, St Andrew, who is also listed as a person of interest in several other shootings and murders and Tevin Harris, otherwise called 'Ratty', of 100 Lane, Kingston 19, and 51 Bond Street, Kingston 14 are also being sought.

The police are urging these individuals to turn themselves in immediately to the nearest police station.
